*There is a minimum rental period of 2 days for all our gears and clothes. You can rent and return on the same day but the price is the same as 2 days. You are welcome to rent more than 2 days for a longer trip.

In case of loss or damage, you will be charged the cost of items.

A cancellation fee will be charged if canceled by the customer.

Our rainwear is for hiking only. Do not use for stream climbing or kayaking.

●Rainwear (jacket + pants)

Our rental rain jacket and pants are made of Montbell's original waterproof/breathable material. Yakushima is a rainy island. Rainwear is indispensable for a hike in the rain.
If not raining, you can carry them in your backpack.

●Backpack 20L

backpack is another item essential for a hike. Don’t take a shoulder bag when you hike for hours. A backpack is easy on the shoulders and allows you to keep both hands free. It also has outside pockets so that you can easily take in and out snacks and drinks while hiking.

●Trekking Poles

Recommended especially if you are not used to hiking. For many, downhill is the hardest part of hiking. These poles can support your knees when going down.

●Sleeping Bag

Mountain huts in Yakushima are simple shelters with no heater or caretaker. It gets really cold in the morning and evening and that’s when you need a sleeping bag to keep you warm. You can be a bagworm and sleep like a log. We have different types for different seasons.

●Headlamp

A headlamp is crucial for those who start before sunrise to hike up to Jomon-sugi or Mt. Miyanoura. You can light up the trail and feel lighter when it’s dark. Wear this item on your head and be an adventurer!

●Spats

Spats are helpful when it rains. They prevent water and dirt from entering shoes. You can also keep shoelaces inside so that you won’t trip over. Don’t let leeches sneak in your shoes on the rainy day!

●Aluminum Roll Mat

The floor of mountain huts in Yakushima are hard and cold. You can’t lay a sleeping bag directly on the floor and sleep comfortably. You don’t want to wake up in the morning and feel stiff and sore. Use this mattress, it’s warmer than you imagine.

Mountain huts in Yakushima are not so spacious and get filled up quickly. Sometimes, you have to sleep amid a group of strangers snoring in chorus. A tent can save you from that kind of situation as building a tent is allowed in the area around those huts. So why don’t you create your private space in the mountain!

Does it snow in the mountain in Yakushima? Yes! It does possibly between mid-December and March. You should check with us in advance about the snow condition and we can advise which type of spike you should take according to the latest condition.
